Mehandi Hasan – known Indian sitarist and vocalist, is the owner of the voice range of 3.5 octaves.He was born to a reputed Sufi family, and music has been a part of his family since XVII century.
Mehandi was the first sitarist who began playing the sitar, fixed in a standing position. Prior to that, the musicians played the sitar only sitting.
Mehandi uses his own unique style of playing the sitar, not comparable with the classic sound of the instrument.
